DR. DON FAIRBANKS SUGGESTIONS:
1. Slide 12 , can this be made more relevant to Utah Co?
2. Slide 14 what is PPMP?
3. Slide 15 is good but can we add SMART info on death rates in Utah Co or Utah State, pure numbers?
4. Slide 17 & 18 there is at least one Dr Jones in Utah Co, can we call the doc Dr X or something similar? Roberts Smith also needs changed.
5. Slide 26 change to include any opioid w/explanation
6. Slide 27 add something to the extent that most providers w/o methadone experience or training should probably not be prescribing it.
7. Slide 28, 29, 30, 31 drop
8. Slide 32 Additional information or guidance for conversion from one opioid to another
9. Slide 33 address short term opiods
10. Slide 34 add “ no untoward side effects” at the bottom.
11. Slide 36, 37 drop
12. Slide 41 is this important in Kim’s mind?
13. Slide 43 change methadone to opioids
14. Slide 50 Add to last bullet “short acting opioids”
15. Slide 53 Hand out 2 pages of UDOH summary.
16. Slide 64 Is CME still possible?
17. Slide 65 ???
KEVIN SHOLZ SUGGESTIONS:
1. What the net result of their prescribing is.......in medicine cabinets. Clean Out the Cab. results..
2. Doctor teaching the user about dangers of painkiller use.
3. Discuss the overall risk of abuse of these medications....do they realize how often these are abused?
4. The danger of inappropriate use of all Opiate based painkillers.....not just Methadone
-Over-prescription.....too many dosages........should not be prescribed as a matter of convenience for the Doctors.
5. What about Dentists and others that prescribe painkillers.
FROM JOANN PETRIE:
1. Update any research to 2010—including any news reports and Public Health Studies – especially those from Utah.
2. Is it possible to include RNs, NPs, PAs, and DDCs on this list so they could be targeted for training too with the advertising needed? i.e., nurses, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants and dentists – like Kevin mentioned-- or will that mess with the evidence-based concept? I also realize that may be impossible this time round for getting CMEs for them but we really should do all we can to bring them in on this.
